The largest solar power plant in Münsingen

The largest photovoltaic system in Münsingen has been in operation on the roof of Biral AG since October 2022. We carried out the project in collaboration with InfraWerkeMünsingen. A total of 2,040 photovoltaic modules are spread across a solar area of 3,413 square metres. The system generates around 720,000 kilowatt-hours of electricity per year – enough to power over 260 two-person households during the same period.

In June 2023, we met 65 per cent of our electricity requirements from our own plant and also fed a further 46,000 kilowatt-hours of solar power into the InfraWerkeMünsingen grid. In that month alone, Biral thus reduced its CO₂ emissions by around 6 tonnes.

This plant is a milestone for us. It demonstrates that renewable energy is not only environmentally friendly but also economically viable. We hope this will encourage other businesses and local authorities to switch to clean electricity.
